The Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra returns to Havenstreet for their Steam Railway Proms next Saturday (29th July).
The Union Jacks will be out in force, waving as crowds celebrate the music of the fictional British secret agent James Bond and special agent Dick Barton (The Devil’s Gallop theme music), together with some well-known and recognisable Railway pieces for all the family.
The concert will end in traditional style with audience participation singing along to Rule Britannia!, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.
General Manager Steve Backhouse has said:
“This has become a firm favourite in our calendar for our visitors to enjoy some fabulous music with steam trains as a backdrop. Don’t forget to bring your picnics and something to sit on and our bar and café will also be open!”
The Steam Railway will be running a normal timetable on the day including a late train after the concert. The concert starts at 15:00 and tickets can be pre-booked online at www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk but will also be available on the day.

A wonderful event so long as the weather holds off and they play real British tunes, not any of that rap antagonistic music.
Lets for once celebrate our culture in our country playing the tunes we all love to hear.
Quality music we can all enjoy. Well done for organising this lovely event.
Will be certain to be there as a fantastic event. Just need the weather to make it complete.
Havenstreet is great, just be careful of your volunteering staff, one of them on the 40’s weekend loading the trains was So rude to my wife and kid’s that she doesn’t ever want to return, and it cost around £80 for 3 of them. and we aren’t a chav family.
