The Isle of Wight RSPCA would like to thank islanders for their kindness and support over the last 10 days after the branch took on a large number of dogs.
65 chihuahuas and 1 Chinchilla recently came into RSPCA’s care following a seziure in Cowes and the branch has been looking after this large number of dogs alongside their day-to-day operations since then.
Suzanne Pugh, Branch manager, has said:
“We wouldn’t have been able to get through the last few days without the outpouring of kindness, love and generosity of people on and off island.
“As soon as people heard these animals were in our care, we had local residents arriving with food, donations and even to offer up their own time.
“As a charity we are so grateful to the people who took time out of their busy days to come and lend a hand with these animals even in a small way.
“I am new to the branch and have been overwhelmed by the amazing support from animal lovers across the island. I’d also like to thank our dedicated staff and veterinary teams who work around the clock to make sure our animals are well cared for.”
Island Echo added a ‘donate’ button to our Facebook post regarding the appeal, which raised a fantastic £1,005. Thank you to the 60 donators who made this happen.
Unfortunately, the RSPCA are unable to give any further details about these animals for legal reasons and they are not currently available for rehoming.
