East Cowes Vics were knocked out of the Hampshire Senior Cup at the 3rd round stage by Premier South side AFC Totton this evening (Wednesday). The game began disastrously for Vics with Alfie Stanley firing the ball into an open goal in the 3rd minute of the game (1-0). Owen Pelham then scored his 1st goal for the Stags in the 13th minute to double the home side’s lead (2-0). Charlie Kennedy headed in a 3rd for the home side in the 17th minute (3-0). Josh Neale made a good run for Vics in the 18th minute before being dispossessed in Totton’s penalty area. Benny Read further extended the Stags’ lead in the 22nd, firing in a cross from the edge of the 6-yard box (4-0). Totton’s 5th came in the 26th minute when Jordan Chiedozie slotted the ball under Alex Ram (5-0). The final goal of the first half had a touch of comedy when a Vics’ defender cleared the ball off the line only for it to cannon off the back of Alex Ram for an own goal (6-0). Half time: AFC Totton 6-0 East Cowes Vics The Stags continued from where they had left off in the 49th minute when Alfie Stanley caught a Vics’ defender in possession before slotting the ball past Ram. On the hour mark, Vics captain Callum Chase was injured in a tackle before being subbed off to be replaced by Jacob Reynolds. Manager Alex Smith continued to make changes to the side, putting on Brad Young and Ted Mumford in the 69th minute. Vics’ Aedan Coode was then yellow carded for a poor challenge on Totton’s Leon Maloney. Smith’s changes steadied the ship, with a resilient 2nd half performance from the East Cowes defence restricting the Totton tally to 7 goals. Full time: AFC Totton 7-0 East Cowes Vics East Cowes Vics: Ram, Snow, Yates, Newbold, Chase, Berry, Chapman, Boyd-Kerr, Nash, Neale, Voller Subs: Coode, Reynolds, Young, Hart, Mumford Vics return to the Southampton area on Saturday (18th November) when they face Millbrook in Wessex Division 1.
