ISLE OF WIGHT JUNIOR RYAN CATES WINS PLYMOUTH OPEN TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Isle of Wight junior Ryan Cates has won the Joola Plymouth Junior 2 Star Table Tennis Tournament. Ryan met up with various table tennis players who had come to the Island in the past 2 years, when the IWTTA hosted the southern section of the annual English National Leagues tournament. In the Mixed Open tournament, Ryan was seeded 3rd in his group and won all 4 of his matches. This put him into a playoff against Alyssa Nguyen, who won all her matches in the other group. Ryan won the match 3-1 to take the trophy. Ryan also played in the Junior under-19 singles and came 3rd out of 9 competitors. Ryan is part of the newly formed Isle of Wight team playing in the British Senior League and looks to have a bright future in table tennis.
