A Junior ‘A’ cup tie between Whitecroft & Barton Sports and High Park on Saturday (11th March) was abandoned after a mass brawl involving players and spectators.
Earlier in the game – played at Sandy Lane, Whitecroft – High Park manager Stuart Woodmore had been sent off for using foul language towards the referee, Mr Ali Taylor.
However, despite having been sent off, Mr Woodmore continued to use colourful language to comment on the game from behind 1 of the goals.
In the 70th minute, there was an altercation between a spectator and a High Park player, which resulted in a mass brawl between the 2 teams.
Referee Taylor then abandoned the game in the 75th minute, with the score at 4-0 to the home side.
A spectator present at the match has told Island Echo:
“The game was ill-tempered throughout, and the High Park team gradually became more aggressive as they were losing easily. Lots of words were exchanged, and then there was a mass brawl involving lots of people.
“The game was chaotic with lots of fouls. Ali Taylor blew for full time during the continued brawl, and the game was abandoned early. Ill feeling was still evident.
“It was not a great advert for Island football and most definitely the High Park club”.
Another spectator has told Island Echo:
“High Park were unhappy about the officiating throughout the game.
“A remark was made by a W&B groundsman about the High Park team. 1 spectator (female) called the groundsman a ‘nonce’, and then it all kicked off.
“The brawl lasted for about 10 minutes. Shirts were ripped and punches thrown. But there weren’t any injuries.
“There were lots of women and children close by, and they all seemed to get involved too. It was absolute chaos.”
Referee Ali Taylor was approached for a comment but would not say anything beyond that a report had been sent to the Isle of Wight FA and Hampshire FA.
High Park manager Stuart Woodmore stated that he was unable to comment as the matter was under investigation.
However, in a YouTube video, Mr Woodmore said:
“We lost fair and square to a good young side.
“Having the footage is absolutely brilliant for us because it’s concrete evidence. What it does is stop refs making up things that were not necessarily true.
“If the chap on the side didn’t abuse our family and our kids then none of this would have happened.”

Bunch of total saddos. It is just a game. Grow up.
Ban them all. Little more than animals and should not be allowed to participate in normal life. The referee is a martyr putting up with this rubbish week in week out. Lot of people need to grow up.
And this is why refs should have body cams to catch this behaviour, there is no place in sport for such behaviour and i hope the FA have the balls to come down hard on the instigators of this incident.
love the comment by Stuart that If the chap on the side didn’t abuse our family and our kids then none of this would have happened. Yet a few weeks back he was told to keep his swearing down as kids were about. His response was then don’t fu**ing bring them to men football, Maybe you should take you own advice #justsaying
Typical High Park playing dirty and the divvy manager abusing refs. Then crying wolf playing the victims and trying to use there edited youtube videos as proof
How many games have they had abandoned this season, thugs, always looking to intimidate opposition, they look to ‘hurt’ players rather than play football. Pan vibes.
As a supporter of ‘The Croft’ I was appalled.
Whilst plenty of football matches have a little rough and tumble and the odd blasphemous comments, these common louts outclassed by Whitecroft became quickly antagonistic.
Bad enough but the Chav course ‘women’ who were nothing better than common fish wives inflamed the situation.
Disgusting as many young children were in attendance and sadly yet not surprisingly as foul mouthed as the presumed mothers.
To them likely a daily occurrence on a run down benefit kept estate but shocking to decent folk
I had to take a sleeping pill that night to calm my self down before retiring to bed.
A frightening experience which must never become the norm.
Should give that lot a pile of sleeping pills to end their miserable existences. Highlight of their life is kicking off and causing trouble. Makes them feel important when they are totally and utterly insignificant. They wouldn’t be missed,
Fighting because of fools ball. What a bunch of dribbles.
The proof is in the video for all to see, the High Park manager got sent from the ground for arguing with the referee, but he still coached from behind the goal, surely this shouldn’t happen once you get sent off.
By coached, I assume you mean incited violence. The video just shows a bunch of retarded knuckle draggers doing what comes naturally. Ref should carry a taser to deal with them. Castration would be a start.
Not sure what he was doing, but still should not be outside of his vehicle giving words either to his players or the crowd
And who are you then Ian !! Or are you hiding behind a fake name and keyboard ?
He like hibernating that one
Hiding behind kids…. Better than touching them like yourself pal.
I’m hearing reports of similar incidents happening at lawn bowls all over the island. In one case someone was given a ‘good ticking off’. This epidemic of violence in sport must be stopped.
Check out the YouTube channel that high park has. Absolute disgrace, with plenty of swearing, fighting, games called off. High Park hasn’t changed, let’s hope Hampshire fa ban them all for life
I live near to one of the High Park mafia …. nothing on his own and a massive gammon on the pitch. A gammon who stole a wife and then kicked her kids out…. #freeloader
