A dog lover is on a mission to find the UK’s most dog friendly destination and is asking pet owners and businesses on the Isle of Wight for their help.
Becky Baker and her Cockerpoo Buddy will spend 2 months living in a motorhome checking out cafes, pubs, walks, groomers, pet shops and public spaces.
On 11th August they will be on the Island and Becky is asking people to get in touch with their recommendations to help her provide pet parents with the most comprehensive, first hand guide of things to do with their dog.
The 35-year-old from Wakefield, Yorkshire left her job as a technical product manager and plans to blog about her 2,500 mile #pawsontour2019 trip on her pet social media and review site, K9Nation.
Becky said:
“I’m hoping to check out as many dog friendly places as possible so I’d love to learn about things dogs can do on the Isle of Wight.
“We’ll be doing lots of walking and it would be lovely if people would like to join us and show us hidden gems to visit with dogs.
“I’m hoping to meet people from all kinds of businesses that welcome dogs, from groomers and pet shops to pubs and cafes.
“Each place will be given a rating and I want to create the most thorough guide I can for dog owners across the country know where they can go and make friends – both two and four legged!”
Becky was inspired to follow her dream by the tragic death of a work colleague earlier this year in a road accident. Before, she was working full time in a corporate job and building her website in her spare time, and she hopes the road trip will help raise awareness of her work.
Becky said:
“Dogs are such a huge part of our lives which is why I wanted to create a social media site for them, where they can make friends, and for owners to find services and resources.
“As well as experiencing as many dog friendly things as possible for the guide, I hope to meet with charities, enterprises and rescue shelters along the way.
“It will be a challenge, as I’ve never even camped before and can barely cook, but I know it will be wonderful to have Buddy by my side and I’m looking forward to our adventure.”

Lily’s in Seaview is fabulous and they provide free dog biscuits as well as amazing human food. A close walk to Priory Bay which is my favourite North Isle of Wight beach. A must visit.
