Local holiday let owner, Steve Little, is celebrating after picking up an award for his property in the seaside town of Ventnor. Steve, who also works as a teacher, scooped silver in the Best in the South and Isle of Wight category for Pilgrim’s Loft, his lavish first-floor apartment set in a converted church. The national travel awards programme by staycation specialist Sykes Holiday Cottages saw a significant number of entries from across the UK and Ireland – with Pilgrim’s Loft beating off tough competition to win the award. Steve and his wife stumbled across Pilgrim’s Loft, which was undergoing a significant renovation when visiting Ventnor with a friend back in 2021. After falling in love with the property, they purchased it a year later, enlisting the help of an interior designer to complete the project with luxury finishes. Since Pilgrim’s Loft first became available to holidaymakers back in April 2022, Steve has reaped the rewards of a surge in staycations to the Isle of Wight, and the property is nearly fully-booked throughout the whole of 2023. The Sykes Gem Awards first launched in 2017 and aim to celebrate the best people and properties in the UK’s holiday let sector – judged by a panel of industry experts including Sykes’ CEO Graham Donoghue and COO Bev Dumbleton, as well as The Sun’s Assistant Travel Editor Sophie Swietochowski. Pilgrim’s Loft (interior) Properties were judged using owner entries and guest feedback, alongside details like photos, occupancy figures and property amenities. The judging panel were impressed by the style and facilities on offer at Pilgrim’s Loft, along with guest feedback on cleanliness, comfort, and value for money. Unless the rest of Ventnor has fallen into the sea this view is impossible from that property it’s a fake view
Absolute balls if you think that’s the view from the old boxing club!! I’d sue if I rented that place expecting that sea view!!
