Vectis, Shanklin and West Wight battled through to the 2nd Round of the Island Echo Challenge Cup on Saturday (21st October).
Vectis 3-0 Northwood St Johns
3 2nd half goals saw Vectis overcome NSJ in the derby at Cowes Community College. Vectis found Northwood difficult to break down in the 1st half. However, a brace from Ben Cutts – scoring in the 57th and 76th minutes – and a last minute goal from Joe Houghton ensured a comfortable victory for the home side.
After the game, Vectis manager Reece Biedler said:
“We found the opposition difficult to break down in the 1st half. However, in the 2nd half, we were much more composed and in control; we had to be patient but got the job done in the end.
“Well done to 16-year-old Jack Dockrell, who made his first team debut in only his 3rd adult fixture. Also, Kieran Sibbick made his 100th appearance for the club today and had a great game as he always does.
“We have the next 2 weekends off now, unfortunately, and the lads have left us in a really good position in both league and cup.”

West Wight 1-2 Whitecroft & Barton Sports
