Island resident and former Royal Marine veteran, Andrew Rigsby, is celebrating the publication of his new military history book entitled ‘Sabre Prattling: The Language of the Battlefield’ later this week.
Sabre Prattling is a word-lovers delight as it contains many of the words, phrases and expressions that people liberally use in everyday conversation that have direct originations from human conflict and war going back to the 14th century.
The book is a labour of love.
Andrew says:
“I laid the foundation in 2009. It came as a result of knowing many of these expressions, but I was intrigued how people would use them in day-to-day conversation. I couldn’t find anything published at the time that was pertaining to it.”
The book is to be launched at Medina Books in Cowes this Friday (30th September) from 18:00-19:30.
