Island Roads have admitted that they ‘got it wrong’ when they installed a beauty spot bench not only on a sloped angle, but the wrong way around.
Road workers recently replaced the piece of street furniture at the top the Cascades in Ventnor – a sunny spot that overlooks the Esplanade. However, instead of facing east out to sea the bench was rotated around to give a view of a row of houses in the town.
Plenty of people have taken to social media to mock the blunder, which has since been fully corrected.
Following the publication of an article on the MailOnline, the PFI contractor has taken to Twitter to say:
“Our workers think all of the views on the Island are stunning, but we accept we got this one wrong.
“As you can see, the Ventnor bench is now in its correct position – and dead-level. Enjoy the view!”
…and right next to the rubbish bin, lovely in hot weather when the wind is in the wrong direction 😀
Sorry but how do they think people can sit on the downhill end of that bench in comfort?
