National High street broker, Swinton Insurance, is holding a free cyber security seminar aimed at businesses on the Isle of Wight.
The ‘how to survive a cyber-attack’ breakfast event will be run by cyber experts and will include a live hack.
The event is taking place on Thursday 26th October from 08:00-10:30, at CECAMM (The Isle of Wight College) and will include experts in the fields of law, accountancy, insurance, IT and cyber security.
Specialists from Taylor Made Computer Solutions, Swinton Insurance, ESID, HSB Insurance Ltd/Munich Re, Rothmans and Moore Blatch will offer advice about how to safeguard against online threats.
John Cornett, commercial area development manager at Swinton Insurance, said:
“Please join us at this seminar. It’s a must for businesses on the Isle of Wight who want to know how to protect their company before, during and after a cyber-attack. Whatever the reason a hacker chooses to attack their evolving techniques are an ever-growing concern for businesses striving to protect their information and assets.
“Learn about your weakest areas, the appropriate use of IT systems in the workplace, current cyber threats, how to strengthen your information security and manage privacy compliance. There will also be the opportunity to network with other local business leaders.”
Businesses are advised to understand how to prevent a cyber-attack. Across Europe in 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be introducing fines for data breaches, for companies of up to €20m or 4% of annual worldwide turnover.
Registration for the seminar is free, simply go to Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/d/united-kingdom–manchester/swinton-cyber-event/.
