Around 1,000 people took part in the Inflatable Rainbow Run at Sandown Airport on Sunday, raising more than £27,000 in the process!
Following on from the inaugural success of last year’s event, Wessex Cancer Trust brought the Rainbow Run back to Sandown for the second year running.
The weather was kind for the hundreds of fun runners who tackled the 3km course which featured 10 giant inflatables and 5 colour clouds of powder paint.
Several ‘waves’ of runners set off throughout the day including a competitive wave – the Corporate Cup. This was won by staff from PGL Little Canada in Wootton.
Special mention goes to Boogie Bounce IW who had a bumper team entry of 116 people, raising more than £3,400 between them.

“From our many sponsors, supporters and the team at Sandown Airport to our dedicated volunteers and, above all, every single one of you that took part, we cannot thank you enough.
“So far, our two Inflatable Rainbow Runs have raised more than £65,000 for Island people affected by cancer and you can all feel very proud in the knowledge your money and efforts are helping to support Islanders when they need it most.”
Plans are underway to bring back the Inflatable Rainbow Run in 2020 – keep an eye out for a special announcement in the coming weeks.
