Calendar Girls the Musical is to debut on the Isle of Wight in June, in aid of Mountbatten.
The much-loved and highly acclaimed musical, Calendar Girls, is set to make its Isle of Wight debut at Shanklin Theatre between 25th-27th June.
Based on the true story of a group of Yorkshire Women’s Institute members who decide to produce a nude calendar to raise money for charity, Calendar Girls the Musical has been written by Tim Firth and Gary Barlow and features an unforgettable soundtrack. The poignant and funny production really does prove that there is no such thing as an ordinary woman.

The show, featuring a fabulous cast from the amateur theatre scene here on the Isle of Wight, promises to be a touching and uplifting experience for audiences.
Providing expert medical, nursing, and domiciliary end-of-life care across the Isle of Wight community, Mountbatten supports around 2,000 Islanders on any given day. Their dedicated team offer spiritual and psychological care as well as Island wide bereavement support to anyone who has experienced a death, whatever their age and however they have been bereaved.

Nudity on stage in Shanklin? I think it’s a disgrace!!
I performed in a production of Calendar Girls in November last year. For fans of Gary Barlow, this is a must to attend; he wrote the music to the songs. Gary cleverly composed the songs to include music the audience would have heard earlier in the production. I am sure the cast of Calendar Girls will embrace these songs as much as I did.
As for nudity, the audience can’t see much. Choreographed right with the timings correct, the girls getting their kit off will be tastefully covered by flowers and iced buns. To respect the girl’s modesty, all stage crew backstage at the time of the nudity scene were female.
