Havenstreet Community Centre has launched ‘Raise the Roof’ – a fundraising campaign with an aim of raising £16,000 in just 12 months in order to repair the roof of the building.
As part of the fundraising efforts, a sponsored walk is set to take place at Havenstreet Recreation Ground on Saturday (28th October) starting at 09:00. The target is to walk a total of 83.5 miles — the equivalent of walking from the Isle of Wight to London Bridge.
The event will be launched by local Ward Councillor for Havenstreet & Ashey, Vanessa Churchman while Havenstreet Ukulele Group (HUGS) will play tunes to help get everyone into their stride. There will be refreshments for those taking part and for supporters alike.
Also available for purchase at the Recreation Ground will be:
• Raise the Roof t-shirts (free to walkers who raise more than £20 each in sponsorship)
• Walk to London pens
• Raffle tickets
• Sponsor a Slate
• Name the Rabbit competition
The walk will finish at 16:00. All walkers and supporters will then be invited to the Community Centre where presentations will take place at approx. 17:00. Free drinks and ‘nibbles’ will be provided.
