Lord Louis Library in Newport will be holding a health and fitness event tomorrow (Saturday 20th January) between 10:00 and 13:00.
If you want to get healthier and fitter in 2018, there will be a host of experts on hand to help you kick-start your year and achieve those new year fitness resolutions.
The Isle of Wight Council’s library manager, Rob Jones says:
“This is a great opportunity to get the best start in getting healthy – a resolution which I am sure, most of us make every January. There will be a number of organisations available to give advice, support and information.
“And best of all, they will all be in one place so why not come along to the library on 20 January – it could be the start of a new fitter, healthier you. You could also take use the day to discover how much more your library can offer you.”
The Council’s public health team and NHS dieticians will also be available to help you with advice on eating healthily, with tips for affordable, healthy meal choices, along with identifying hidden sugars in everyday foods and how to be sugar smart with food swaps.
The 1Leisure team will be able to tell you about their gym membership deals, and also show you how to get fitter, as they will have a rowing machine with them to give you the chance to try out some equipment available at the 1 Leisure gyms across the Island.
If you are worried about your general state of health, the Isle of Wight Chamber public health team will be at the library to give you advice and if you want it, a confidential health MOT. Action on Hearing Loss will also be carrying out free hearing checks.
