Police on the Isle of Wight are investigating an allegation that a young boy – thought to be just 10-years-old – pulled a knife on a group of children at a park on Pan Estate yesterday afternoon (Thursday).
Although no one was injured, the situation has left a number of parents concerned. Those parents have taken to Facebook to make others aware of the incident, which is alleged to have taken place in the park off Furrlongs, Pan at around 15:30 yesterday.
Island Echo understands the boy’s mother was informed and collected him from the park.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“We received a report last night (Thursday) at 9.45pm that a young boy had allegedly threatened a group of children with a knife in a park in Furlongs, Newport, at about 3.30pm yesterday.
“The incident is currently under investigation and no injuries were sustained.”

Well this is a start to a life of crime for this boy, hope he gets the professional help while he is young before he loses his life to crime.
Don’t be silly, Donna. He will be wrapped in cotton wool, his behaviour will be excused because he suffers with the latest trendy mental health tag that they will use. His parents will be able to claim all sorts of benefits because of his “suffering”. The company that makes the knives will be sued for manufacturing a sharp object. The parents of al the other children that he threatened will be sued for allowing their children to upset the poor little mite. This is the “safe” world that we live in now. Back in my day, he would have been given a bloody good hiding and he wouldn’t dare do it again! But, sadly, it’s all about “Human Rights”. It’s a crying shame that the bleeding hearts and Guardian readers don’t consider the Human Rights of the victims!
Hear Hear..
You display an awful lack of intelligence and rational thought for someone with a screen name of “Common Sense”
Dearest Satan. You really must learn when someone is being sarcastic about the sad state of the world in which we now live.. Also, my friend, judging by the number of “likes” on my comment, I would take a guess that you are in a minority. Oh, hold on…..This country panders to every bloody minority, despite the fact that we are supposed to be a democratic country with freedom of speech. Therefore, Satan, whilst I completely disagree with your assumption that I lack intelligence, (by the way, I’m a member of Mensa), I will defend your right to have your own opinion. Peace and love, my friend
Well said
totally agree with you
I forgot about how messed up the world we live in now is! Well said
Never known mental health to be described as trendy, sure people who do suffer from or have family that suffer from mental illness do not see this as a trendy, or attention seeking fad. Sad that in this day and age people see it as bogus
Dear Vicky, thank you for your response. I’m not denying that thousands of people genuinely suffer from mental health issues. The problem is that there seems to be a trend for blaming every misdemeanour on ADHD, or something else. This is, I feel, not right because it undermines the unlucky individuals that really do have issues. Loke I said before, when I was a nipper, you got a good hiding from your parents, or at school you got the cane. For most kids, this was the ultimate deterrent and it taught you right from wrong, it taught you respect for others, and it taught you what sort of behaviour is acceptable in a civilised society. All of these values have been lost now, and the first generation to be brought up with no discipline are now parents themselves. I find it rather worrying that children are growing up with no boundaries. This is where the problem really lies. I don’t have the answer. I only wish I did
Shut up donna
My 11 year old son was threatened with a knife, two weeks later no response from police, as they still haven’t looked at cctv, this should be a priority
My daughter was stabbed in the leg by a friend of a friend. There is to be no action against the perpetrator but she was offered ‘mediation’ where she would sit in a room with the little shit. Island Police are a joke. An absolute disgrace.
Professional help…? For goodness sake – his parents need to be held accountable….! Professional help indeed – this is a little runaway scrote whose parents have failed to manage and instil positive behaviours – simple…!
Lock the little sod up and sterilise the parents so they can’t breed anymore little horrors..
