The Isle of Wight has this week said goodbye to Staples, a brand that has been a part of Newport for the past 17 years – but all is not lost as the store begins a new era as Office Outlet.
The American company that owns Staples sold it’s UK stores to Hilco last year, resulting in a change of branding for more than 100 stores nationwide.
Staples opened at the Cineworld complex on Furlongs, Newport back in June 2000 but on Tuesday night the signs were taken down, marking the end of an era. The Staples name still be partially seen following a crude effort to change the main sign at the front of the building by removing the white lettering.
The re-brand has been rolled out across the country over the past few months.
The store remains open for business under the new name of Office Outlet.
