isleofwightcouncillogoCommunity-minded local residents are being encouraged to discover whether they have what it takes to become a councillor. 

The Isle of Wight Council is inviting members of the community to find out if they have what it takes to represent their local community at 2 special ‘Be a councillor’ events, which are taking place at County Hall, Newport at 10:00 and 17:00 on Tuesday 11th October.

Open to all, the events will also be commemorating the birthday of suffragette Emily Wilding Davison and there will be a particular focus on being a woman in a political leadership position.

There will also be the opportunity to find out about the councils services and to find out what life is like as a councillor.
