Firefighters and the Island community will pay their respects to former firefighter Trevor Moyce when his funeral takes place in Newport next week.
A horse and carriage will take Trevor from Newport Fire Station, where he served as Station Manager, through the town to St Thomas’ Square on the afternoon of Friday 30th November. A service will then take place at Newport Minster at 14:00.
Trev, as he was known to his friends and colleagues, retired from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service in 2016 having completed 30 years of public service. However, just months into his retirement, in January 2017, he was delivered the news that he had MND. Sadly, Trevor lost his battle with the disease last Tuesday.
Donations of potted plants are being welcomed to help create a memorial garden for Trevor. Colleagues from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service will be collecting any plants outside the church on the day. Donations can also be made to the Isle of Wight Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
