To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, a unique opportunity is being offered to run through the grounds of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s beautiful estate of Osborne.
To be held on Saturday 17th June 2017, participants can choose from a 3 or 5km run that starts and finishes in front of the home so loved by the Royal couple. The non-competitive fun run is open to all ages and abilities, and will take in areas of the grounds including the beach, Swiss Cottage and parts of the estate that are off the beaten track.
The cost of entry includes a 35th anniversary running vest and all finishers will receive a special anniversary medal. Adults are priced at £20, Under 12s at £10 and Under 3s are free. Places for the new event are limited so anyone interested in registering for the fun run is encouraged to sign up from Friday (24th February) via www.iwhospice.org or by calling the Fundraising Team on 01983 217300.
As with all other fundraising events during the hospice’s anniversary year, everyone raising £35 or more in sponsorship will receive a special limited edition anniversary badge.
Jax Jones, Major Events Fundraiser, said:
“We are really excited to work in partnership with English Heritage to bring this new event to Osborne. This will be a great chance for runners to enjoy the amazing surroundings whilst also raising money for Islanders and their families. Even if you’re not taking part, please do come along and enjoy the atmosphere.”
Nigel Hartley, Chief Executive, said:
“2017 is a special year for our hospice and we are very grateful to English Heritage for their support in helping us mark the anniversary. We hope as many people as possible will take part in this new fun run, either on the track or cheering on those taking part.”
