A Go Fund Me page has been created in the hope of helping the Pass family from Gurnard to rebuild their lives after they lost everything in yesterday’s blaze at Cockleton Lane – including a pet dog.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spent hours tackling a fire at a bungalow near to Gurnard Pines. At its height more than 40 firefighters and 8 appliances were on scene and 2 appliances from Hampshire were drafted in to maintain fire cover on the Island.
Unfortunately, the blaze was well developed prior to the arrival of fire crews so there was little they could do to save the building, which has been completely destroyed. Although everyone escaped without injury, a pet dog – Tally – sadly perished in the fire.
It is said that the family home has been passed down through 4 generations. Apart from the sentimental loss, the family are counting the actual costs having loss their entire life to the fire.
