Freshwater Independent Lifeboat have been honoured by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) by being awarded with Honorary Associate status in recognition of their significant contribution to their work for the society.
Freshwater Independent Lifeboat has been saving lives since 1972 and is run entirely by volunteers. The station covers an area up to 30 miles off shore from Hurst Point to St Catherine”s point. The team also assists the Coastguard and neighbouring services, both Independent and RNLI whenever possible.
Sadly, the team were unable to accept the award in person at Winchester Cathedral on the 13th October due to unforeseen circumstances. However, the award has now been received and will be framed and placed with pride within the Freshwater Boathouse.
