The crew of Freshwater Independent Lifeboat will be raising awareness of their life-saving organisation during a fundraising day at the Co-Op in Afton Road, Freshwater on Saturday (23rd February).
As well as the opportunity for children to dress up and have their photo taken, crew members will be on hand to explain the work of the independent lifeboat service and raise vital funds for the charity.
On display from 10:30 until 16:30 will be the inshore D-Class lifeboat and a rescue jet ski.
Rod Adams, Principle Fundraiser, said:
“Working with the Co-op for our fundraising and educational days is a very important part of our year. It allows us to speak to our growing community, and perhaps enlist some new volunteers. Of course it also means we can have some fun and raise some much needed funds as well.”
Freshwater Independent Lifeboat’s primary fundraising goal at the moment is to fund the rebuilding the lifeboat slipway at Freshwater Bay.
Those interested in finding out more about volunteering can pop along to the Co-op on Saturday to discover more about the opportunities available.
