The Isle of Wight Council, in partnership with Amey, are offering free kerbside collections of real Christmas trees in January.
The special service will be available between 2nd January and 3rd February 2017 but must be booked at least 3 working days in advance. Collections will take place on the same day as normal recycling and green garden waste collections.
The council say they can only dispose of trees that are 7ft or under. If a tree is over 7ft then Islanders are being advised to simply cut it down and book as a 2-tree collection.
Once a collection has been requested, households should leave the tree next to the green wheeled bin/gull sack by 07:00 on the day of collection. Only natural trees will be taken away and trees must be clear of decorations and free of pots/planters.
To book a collection, contact 01983 823777 or use the Christmas tree online form via www.iwight.com/householdwaste. Last bookings must be made by 18:00 on Tuesday 31st January. Bookings made after this date will not be valid.
