Sandown will be the latest area to host a free drop-in session offering residents the chance to find out more about the health and wellbeing support available in their community.
The event at The Heights, The Broadway on Thursday (7th April) between 12:30 and 16:30 is being organised by Community Action IW under the Island’s ‘My Life a Full Life’ programme.
It is the latest in a series of events giving residents the opportunity to meet some of the local groups, organisations and individuals in their area who can help them lead full, healthy and independent lives.
Among those present will be those behind the My Life a Full Life programme, Carers IW, your local Care Navigator, mobile information service MobIsle, Optio car service, Volunteer Centre, Falls Awareness, Action on Hearing Loss, Parkinson’s UK, Alzheimer’s Café, and the Pressure Ulcer Project all alongside the facilities normally available at The Heights including their café.
There will be a colouring competition for any young people bringing along their family. Bus routes 2, 3 and 8 stop right outside.
Organiser Paul Savill said:
“These events are becoming bigger and bigger not just in terms of the numbers of people visiting but in terms of those groups and organisations wanting to show what activities, services and support they offer in the community.
“We are delighted that more and more people across the Island are being put in touch with groups and activities that are on their doorsteps and can really make a difference to their wellbeing.”
Future roadshows will be going to Cowes on 11th May and Newport on 5th July. Further details will be announced shortly.
