G4 singer and former X Factor star Mike Christie is to perform a concert at Mountbatten next month.
Mike, of Cowes, was part of G4 when the group, known for their operatic take on pop songs, finished runners-up in the ITV talent show in 2005.
Opera, pop and musical theatre will be performed by Mike at Mountbatten on Thursday 9th February.
Mike has said:
“As an Islander, I’m honoured to be performing for the first time at Mountbatten, a charity close to my heart as my father received end-of-life care.”
“Music is such a comfort to all of us throughout our lives, and I will be taking the audience on a journey of song to evoke a whole variety of emotions.”
Mike, founder of the Island’s outdoor festival The Wight Proms, will perform at Mountbatten free of charge.
Nigel Hartley, CEO at Mountbatten, has said:
“We are really looking forward to welcoming Mike to Mountbatten next month,” said Nigel Hartley, CEO.
“Our concert series gives us a chance to show how our Island community can come to their hospice for a good night out. We are incredibly grateful to Mike for performing for us and it promises to be a great evening.”
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 19:30, cost £15 per person and include wine and canapes, served during the interval.
Tickets must be booked in advance, via the website.
Further concerts at Mountbatten over the coming months include vintage group Company B, an Irish night and a summer Latino-themed event.

Seems from the photo that he’s been imprisoned. Will they be letting him out to perform? Day release or something?
