Isle of Wight football clubs have been paying tribute to popular footballer Graeme Bast, who has sadly and unexpectedly died. Graeme played for Whitecroft & Barton Sports, where he won numerous honours, before moving on to High Park. This season, he transferred to Bembridge FC. He also coached with Vectis FC and was associated with Pan Sports. Whitecroft & Barton FC have said of their former player:
“Everyone at the club is deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden and devastating loss of our former player Graeme Bast. “‘Basty’ played three seasons for us between 2019 and 2022 and was a rock at the heart of our defence during our 2021 title winning season, being awarded with the Players’ player award that year for his performances. “Fiercely competitive on the pitch but an absolute gentleman off it. “He will be sorely missed by all, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.”
Vectis FC wrote:
“This is a massive loss to everyone that knew him inside and outside of football. Basty had a brief spell with us in our first season, and the quality and leadership he brought to us in the early days was second to none. “Brilliant player but an even better man.”
Pan Sports – who ‘Basty’ was planning to manage this season – said:
“Graeme Bast has passed away. Pan Sports and Steve Case was a massive part of his life. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family at this time.”

Rest well mate. Privileged to have known you.
