A programme of activities at the Full Circle Restaurant at St Mary’s Hospital is seeking to bring Island residents into the hospital for something other than healthcare.
‘Folk Hospital’ is the idea of Isle of Wight NHS Trust maintenance assistant Steve Double, who is also well known around the Island for his support for the Isle of Wight Venue Campaign and music performance.
Steve is promoting a series of events in the Full Circle Restaurant as art of the ‘Folk Hospital’ concept.
The programme is as follows:
| January 19th to March 30th | ‘Make Art Not War’ is a collection of work reflecting the rise of pop culture, fantasy art and illustration by Island artists |
| 30th March to 30th May | A second art collection that brings the vibrant inspiring life works of talented Island painter J.R. Grimshaw into focus. |
| Friday 30th March at 12:30 | Angela Grimshaw and guests bring contemporary country blues from the harmonious vocals of a cherished Island songsmith. |
| Friday 30th April at 12:30 | Acoustic rock from Scotland’s Justin McConville, lead singer and guitarist for London based band ‘Heavy Metal Kids’, currently on tour with ‘Uncle Rust’. |
Steve Double said:
“I hope that Islanders, staff at St. Mary’s and visitors enjoy both the artwork and the music. 2018 marks the 70th Anniversary of the NHS and it’s great that so many people are willing to give their time and energy to put something back into the NHS.”
Guy Eades, healing arts director at Isle of Wight NHS Trust said:
“We’re looking for more artists and musicians to help us during this special year for the NHS. Anyone wanting to perform in the Full Circle Restaurant or exhibit in the Full Circle Gallery is welcome to contact me.”
