FIREFIGHTERS OUTRAGED AS ELDERLY MAN TORMENTED BY CHILDREN IN THE WEST WIGHT

Published at:

Firefighters attending a medical emergency in the West Wight have expressed their outrage after hearing about local youngsters tormenting an elderly gentlemen.

A retained crew from Freshwater Fire Station were mobilised to an address on Longhalves Lane this evening (Thursday) to help paramedics gain entry to a property. The alarm was raised around 17:05.

During the course of the shout it transpired that local children have, for a number of weeks, been tormenting and causing distress to the elderly man by throwing eggs at his windows.

In a post on Freshwater Fire Station’s Facebook page, it’s been said:

“It’s very rare that we see this kind of thing in the West Wight Community and perhaps that makes it seem worse.

“If these are your children please do remind them this is not funny, not clever and absolutely not acceptable.

“Please look after our old folk, we’ll all be old one day”.

There is always a reason why kids will target someone in particular – usually because they give the kids a load of mouth for one reason or another and the kids then plot, scheme and plan each nights entertainment – which will be low level malevolence.

chances are the kids probably annoyed the old guy and he told them to clear off, in not so many words.

what ever happened to “respect your elders”? If kids were outside your house screaming, shouting and swearing and you went out and politely asked them to keep the noise down or move away it doesn’t give them the right to make you a target. Here on the island they are throwing eggs, on the mainland it’s bricks and other stuff that I won’t mention…… As I have already stated, parents need to keep their children under control and be made accountable for any trouble their kids cause. If the parent/parents are on benefits and damage has been caused and repair bills accumulate, take the money out of their benefits at source.

opinions matter –

every generation says the same about respecting elders, yet forgets what they were like as kids -nothing has changed since time immemorial.

There is no excuse for children doing this! Even if the old man did tell them off it does not give them a right to throw eggs at his house and torment them. If this was the case they should have gone and told their parents and if it is the case that they were just doing it for fun then that is even more disgusting

carer86 –

these are likely to be teenagers at least and will not be deterred by someone “grassing them up” to their parents. If anything it will make matters worse. There is no doubt that they were doing it for fun.

going and telling their parents can backfire spectacularly – you end up with the parents giving you a hard time also, especially if the parents already know what little shitbags their kids are and that just having them out of the house is a blessing.

no use voting my post down – it is true and has been for generations – ask yourselves what you saw (or did) when you were kids.

be honest and do not try and make out that you lived in some sort of kind hearted utopia, where all was happy – real life isn’t some happy go lucky tv show.

Can you remind me why we’re no longer allowed to smack our children when some of them clearly need it?

Disrespectful little shits. Why are kids these days not taught to respect anything including each other, people’s property and the area where they live. Parents need to start discipling their kids and not let them be out at all hours of the day and night getting up to God knows what. Parents, get your kids under control, you bought them into this world so they are your responsibility

One would assume real men of the area would await such ‘children’ and place the eggs where they would not see the light of day for a while, box an all. Bullies need to be taught harsh lesson, otherwise they go on to ‘better things’, hence society is getting worse not better.
