A total of 17 firefighters from across the Isle of Wight have been awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal for 20 years’ service to the local community.
For the first time, the formal presentation of the Medal took place at Cowes Yacht Haven as part of the Isle of Wight Council’s annual ceremony recognising the efforts of council colleagues.
The medals were presented by the Lord Lieutenant, Major General Martin White and Chief Fire Officer of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Neil Odin.
A special tribute was paid to Trevor Howard for 40 years’ service with the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
