The partnership involving AMC, Angloco and Walker Marine Design has been successful in winning an export order for its first Fixed Firefighting (Fi Fi) vessel. The 14m vessel will be built on the Isle of Wight, for delivery by February 2019.
The vessel will be able to carry out multi-roles to meet the risk and hazards of modern day marine firefighting. It will have a max speed of 33 knots, have a capacity to supply up to 4,500 litres per minute of water from 3 monitors and carry a full set of firefighting and medical equipment.
A tri-party partnership spokesperson has said:
“The order was a vote of confidence for the UK marine industry, the UK economy and emerging export market for Fi Fi and multi-role vessel”.
Rob Stewart, Commercial Director at Aluminium Marine Consultants has said:
“By starting with a blank piece of paper we have been able to have a no compromise approach to design and build.
“The vessel will be built in East Cowes and draws upon the tradition of skilled and innovative craftsmen that the Island is deservedly world famous for”.
