The Ryde Branch of the Royal British Legion is to stage a Festival of Remembrance to commemorate the end of World War I later this year – 2018 being 100 years since the Armistice.
The Festival will be held on Saturday 27th October at All Saints Church, Ryde at 19:30 and will take the usual format of displays, community singing, muster of Standards and the Service of Remembrance.
Standards from all RBL Branches will be invited as will Standards from the Military Associations and Cadet Units to take part
This year’s inaugural event will see the presentation of a Book of Remembrance to the Mayor of Ryde, which will serve in memory of all the Ryde residents who have lost their lives due to armed conflict over the years – both military and civilian. The book will remain in the safe keeping of the Town’s Mayor for future events.
The names due to be contained within the book have been taken from the War Memorial in Lind Street. If there are names you think may be missing from the Memorial then contact either Terry Clarkson, Chairman Ryde RBL by emailing [email protected] or [email protected].
