hovertravelwightlinkfootballmatchAfter being rained off before Christmas, a charity football match between Wightlink and Hovertravel has been rescheduled for Sunday 22nd February 2015, subject to playing conditions.

Staff members and crew from both Wightlink and Hovertravel are donning their footie shorts and t-shirts to raise funds in the fun-packed match in aid of Ryde Inshore Rescue, a cause close to both company’s hearts.

The friendly clash of cross-Solent titans kicks off at 14:00 at Seaview Football Club with all money raised going to the independent lifeboat crew; even players are being asked to donate to the cause.

Wightlink’s Customer Reception Officer, Adrian Farrell said:

“It’s an amazing and enjoyable way for both of the cross-Solent operators to join forces. Ryde Inshore Rescue is a charity that I myself volunteer for, so it is very close to my heart. This football game gives us a great opportunity to raise some much-needed funds so I hope we can get a bit of a crowd. I can’t promise Barcelona Vs Real Madrid, but one thing’s for sure, we’ll be playing to win.”

Spectators are very welcome to watch the friendly and they will also be given the opportunity to dig deep for the inshore rescue team.

The match is subject to the weather which both teams are hoping will be good.
