The line-up for the forthcoming Isle of Wight Legends vs Southampton Legends charity football match at Westwood Park has been revealed. The game on 17th May will simultaneously raise funds for Newport IW FC and Cowes Sports and is being jointly organised by both clubs. The Isle of Wight Legends – well-known island footballers from over the past 30 years – will include the former Island players: Andy Butler, Ashley Wright, Jamie and Duncan O’Rourke, Pete Wheeler, Joe McCormack, John Holmes, and Darren Powell. 2 well-known former professionals – Lee Bradbury and Gary Rowett – will also join the Isle of Wight Legends team; both attended Cowes High. Bradbury went on to play for Portsmouth, Manchester City, and AFC Bournemouth; Rowett enjoyed a professional career spanning over 14 years, competing in both the Premier League and Championship for Everton, Derby, and Birmingham City. The following former players have confirmed their participation for the Saints Legends: Matt Le Tissier, Matt Oakley, James Beattie, and Glen Cockerill. Further former stars will be added to the line up over the coming weeks.

The match – which kicks off at 19:00 – is expected to draw a large crowd. Alongside the game, spectators can enjoy halftime performances, food stalls, and have the opportunity to meet footballing icons. 2CL Communications and Motorola are the main event sponsors, and Red Funnel and Job To Career Ltd will provide support for the event logistics.
