Children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs are invited to a Short Breaks family fun and information day at Medina Leisure Centre playing fields on Friday 22nd July between 10:00-16:00.
The annual family fun and information day promises a fun-packed day of entertainment and activities, while giving children and young people, along with their parents or carers, the opportunity to meet local short breaks providers and find out about the range of activities they provide.
Entertainment throughout the day includes a horse show by Bodsters, falconry display by Haven Falconry, magic show by Huxley, street dance by Starlight Boutique as well as children’s entertainment from Francesca and music from Island singer Louisa Driscoll.
There will also be face painting, a bouncy castle, the chance to meet the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and explore a fire engine, animal displays, sports and arts and crafts.
Councillor Jonathan Bacon, leader of the Isle of Wight Council, said:
“The annual short breaks fun day is a great way for families to learn about the additional support available for children or young people with disabilities or additional needs.
“The council’s short breaks team has done a superb job in arranging this fun-packed day which promises to be a fantastic day for all the family.”
No booking is required and siblings and family members of children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be available throughout the day, with the opportunity to purchase hot or cold foods. There is also free parking for those attending the event.
