Recent government inspections of 2 Island care services have resulted in Southern Housing Group achieving a ‘good’ rating across all standards of care.
The services – the Domiciliary Care Agency (DCA), which provides at-home personal care and support to more than 50 Island residents and Byrnhill Grove, a care home for older residents based in Ventnor – were recently assessed by Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors who assessed each service on 5 key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.
Both services, which are led by Tina Stuart, Registered Service Manager for Southern Housing Group, achieved a ‘good’ rating in all 5 key standards of care – an excellent result.
The Group’s DCA provides personal care and support to more than 50 Island residents with a variety of care needs, including learning disabilities, physical care needs, memory loss, and mental health needs.
The report for the DCA found that residents feel safe and trust the staff and that staff treated residents in a caring and kind way.
Tina Stuart said:
“Supporting people with diverse needs and helping them remain independent in their homes is very rewarding. Care staff may be the only people our customers see on a daily basis. The report reflects the hard work and commitment of the whole team and demonstrates what we do well. It shows that we go above and beyond to ensure the needs of people we care for are met.”
Byrnhill Grove is a home that provides personal care for up to 17 older residents with needs associated with advanced age and early stage dementia. Following unannounced inspections of Byrnhill Grove on 19th and 25th January, the report found that staff developed caring and positive relationships with people and that staff are sensitive to people’s individual choices and treat them with dignity and respect’.
Naomi Keyte, Head of Sheltered and Care Services for Southern Housing Group, said:
“These are fantastic results and great recognition for everyone who works so hard to ensure the success of Byrnhill Grove and our DCA service. I’d like to say a big thank you to our colleagues whose commitment and hard work have ensured our success, especially Tina Stuart”.
