New Wave Legends ‘Buzzcocks’ are returning to the Isle of Wight next month to play Strings Bar & Venue.
On Saturday 15th July, Buzzcocks will be back on the Island playing their hits that we all know and love, plus a few new ones from their recent album – ‘Sonics In The Soul.
Formed in 1976, Buzzcocks quickly made it to the very top of the UK music industry. Fast forward nearly 40 years, they’re still absolute heroes in the game.
Few have had the longevity and sustained creative energy to produce the seemingly endless stream of truly original and fantastic pop songs that Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle have consistently delivered over the last four decades. Original and best.
The loss of their principal songwriter would have seen less committed bands throw in the towel. However, such is the indomitable rock’n’roll spirit of co-founder and fellow tunesmith Steve Diggle, that when Pete Shelley passed away in 2018, the Buzzocks’ future was never really in doubt.
Steve has sung with the band from the very beginning, so it was only right that he took over vocal duties to front the band.
Steve says: “I am going to raise the mast & set the sails for the next voyage of the good ship, Buzzcocks.”
He will be joined by the long-term current line-up of Danny Farrant (Drums) and Chris Remington (Bass) performing all the classic Buzzcocks hits and more. If you missed their sold-out show at Strings last year, here’s your chance!
Tickets can be purchased at stringsbarandvenue.co
