Sandown Carnival has launched its 32-page programme of events for 2022 with a bumper load of activities planned after a 2-year COVID-19 hiatus.
An eagerly awaited highlight of Sandown Main Carnival on Saturday 30th July at 19:00 will be the performers and spectacular costumes of Shademakers UK, who join the parade fresh from international acclaim at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant in London.
The popular Children’s Carnival takes place earlier on the same day with assembly and registration by the Pier at 11:15 and all-day family entertainment at Sandham Gardens from Island favourites Derek Sandy, Company B and Stevo and Kai.
In the events programme, Sandown Carnival chair Paul Coueslant, said:
“We’ve really missed being able to put on our annual parades, such a big part of the entertainment and family fun that the Carnival has been proud to offer the town and its visitors since Victorian times. Whether you’re a spectator or taking part, we do hope you’ll enjoy our 2022 events.”
This year, the Carnival takes the historic Sandown Bay Regatta under its wing for the first time, staging fun and entertainment on the seafront over the weekend of 13th/14th August, including a free music event ‘Hooray for the Bay’ at Brown’s Golf Course.
The traditional Sandown Illuminated Carnival is on the evening of Wednesday 31th August.
Printed copies of Sandown Carnival Programme 2022 will be available soon from the Carnival Shop at 77a High Street, Sandown PO36 8AD and other outlets in the town.
