EVENT POSTPONED – Organisers have made the very difficult decision to postpone the Esplanade Volkswagen Owners Event due to the amber weather warning for heat issued for this Sunday.
A spokesperson has said:
“The safety and well-being of the VW owners, visitors and staff expected to attend the event is more important.
Article continues below this advertisement “It would be irresponsible to ask people to congregate on a very hot forecourt in the midday sun for several hours. We aim to announce a re-scheduled date for this very soon and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
This Sunday (17th July), Esplanade will be clearing its forecourt for owners of Volkswagen cars and vans to come and show their beloved vehicles.
From 11:00 to 14:00 owners of vintage, modified, classic or performance Volkswagen will be welcome to park up and meet with other Volkswagen enthusiasts from around the Isle of Wight.
Owners will be very welcome to have a look around the showroom, grab a hot drink, or chat to a member of staff.
All owner’s vehicles will also be automatically entered into a ‘Best in Show’ competition.
Judging will take place at 12noon and the winner will be announced at around 13:30, with the winner receiving a £50 voucher.
Judges will be looking for:
• Condition of vehicle
• Modifications
• How much your VW makes us smile!
Parking will be allocated for show vehicles by marshals and there is a suggested voluntary donation of £10 per display car which will be given to Esplanade’s chosen charity, Daisy Chains.
If on site car park is full, spectators can use the ‘Park and Ride’ car park or Seaview Road which is a short walk away.
Entry is free for spectators. Plaza Ice Cream van will also be on site for the 1st hour.
