With the winter months upon us the Environment Agency have been working to reduce flood risk to Isle of Wight residents and businesses.
Contractors have been working on Merstone Stream this week in a bid to clear reeds. This helps the river flow and thus reducing the chance of it bursting its bank and adversely affecting nearby properties.
Meanwhile in Ryde, work is continuing on the new outfall pipe at Cornwall Slip, as well as the retaining wall scheme at Simeon Street Rec.
