Wightlink will be running a revised timetable next week to enable the ferry ‘Wight Light’ to have an engine replaced.
The cross-Solent operator says that the Fishbourne-Portsmouth service will be disrupted between Monday 3rd and Friday 7th February inclusive.
Engines in the Wight-class vehicle ferries have proven to be problematic with a number of fires occurring, as well as ‘non-catastrophic’ failures onboard Wight Light.
Wightlink apologises for any changes to your travel plans in the coming week.

UPDATE @ 13:10 – Due to reduced power on one of the other Wight-class ferries – and high winds on the Solent – the 13:00 and 15:00 sailings from Lymington and 14:05, 16:05 and 17:05 from Yarmouth have been cancelled today.
UPDATE @ 14:37 – Repairs have been made in time to return to the scheduled timetable on the Yar-Lym route and reinstate the 15:00 sailing from Lymington and the 16:05 & 17:05 sailings from Yarmouth this afternoon.
The revised timetable on the Fish-Ports route next week will go ahead as planned.

When do they NOT run to a revised timetable?
Are they going to put in the right size engine this time?
They now know that the ones they’ve got aren’t strong enough.
Off to France with the other shitelink boat
They have one over there already the st Claire
Is it me being stupid but i just stupidly thought that like cruise ships exhaustive sea worthiness trials would have been conducted to prevent all of these catastrophic engine fires and failures….just a thought..how the hell did they bypass health and safety. ??
Wow
It’s happening
The engines cant be worn out they are hardly used !!
Maybe worth asking Sh*telink why St Faith ferry had been moored in Southampton for past 2 months ( MarineTraffic App ) ??
Same as every week so far this year then
Are they going to a essential member of staff available to fit the engine
Are they going to have a essential member of staff available to fit the engine
I am getting heartily fed up with the disruption to service. I visit the island several times each year. I have had cancellations every time for the 2018/9 trips. Just seen cancellations due to illness of essential crew again, now this. What has happened to the reliable service I used to know. Friends who are island residents are fed up with it all.
