Division 2 leaders High Park have gone 11 points clear of East Cowes Sports at the top of Division 2 by beating Newport Reserves at Seaclose on Saturday (25th January).
Newport began the game with just 9 players, although a 10th appeared 15 minutes into the game. Port Reserves manager Stewart Shepherd donned his yellow and blue kit and High Park manager Stuart Woodmore ran the line for the home side.
Incredibly – playing with just 9 men – Newport took the lead against the league leaders through Redford Cotton in the 10th minute.
However, a hat trick from John Robjant, a brace from Jenson Norman and a further goal for Kyle Kilroy put paid to the idea of an unlikely Port victory.
Full time: Newport Reserves 2-6 High Park
Newport Reserves remain rooted to the bottom of Division 2 with no points from their 12 games but can take heart from a battling performance against the top side in their division.
