The organisers of the Isle of Wight Gin Festival have announced the dates for this year’s event.
Helen and the team of organisers say they’re delighted to announce that the event -which is now in its fifth year – will take place between the 2nd and 3rd October. 15 hand picked gins will be exhibited over the course of the weekend at the Quay Arts Centre.
Award-winning Mermaids Gin will be present and Fever tree is the event’s choice of Mixer. Organisers have chosen small batch gins this year, as well as some favourites such as the Scottish based Daffy’s and Nottingham’s Sir Robin of Locksley.
The event is set to have 2 different gin Liqueurs to taste from the edge of the Yorkshire Dales created by Fiona Addingham. Fiona finds locally sourced, picked or even foraged natural ingredients. This year we will be show-casing Fiona’s Cranberry and Orange and Gooseberry and elderflower gin liqueurs.
The Isle of Wight Gin Festival Charity remains the same – the Wight Brainy Bunch. A gin-tastic raffle is set to take place in aid of this great charity that provides practical help and support for Islanders affected by brain tumours. Past raffles have always been really popular!
The event will also have live music, Gin & Tonic cupcakes, and visiting distillers telling attendees about their gin and the stories behind their creation. The event has always been great fun and a great success.
Other events will include a Gin & Jive session on the Sunday afternoon with The Bunker Girls and a Gin-tastic DJ playing funky retro sounds for the Saturday evening session. The very talented local musician Greg Barnes is playing both days over the weekend and Steve Love, formally of The Alberts will be entertaining with his quirky Island song writing which even includes a song about Mermaid Gin.
Quay Arts are offering Tapas style sharing platters throughout the weekend. The option to add these platters to the ticket price can be completed online at www.quayarts.org.
Tickets are £10 to include 4 tasting tokens or £18.95 to include the Tapas Platter.
