Dash and Splash will return to the beaches of The Bay next month for the 4th consecutive year.
This unique event, which sees entrants of all ages run, jog or walk 5k between Shanklin and Sandown, will this year be raising money for young people’s charity Challenge & Adventure.
The name comes from the fact that fundraisers have to dash over and around the groynes that stretch along the golden beaches, with the occasional splash into the sea.
Last year almost 200 people took part in the fundraising challenge and it’s hoped that number can be topped in 2018. The event will take place at 13:15 on Sunday 8th July – when the tide is at its lowest.
The groynes are all marshalled by volunteer marshals from Shanklin and Sandown Rotary Clubs; Ryde Lions; Shanklin Rowing Club; Yaverland Sailing Club; Sandown & Shanklin Rugby Clu and Sandown Sea Scouts. Tesco Ryde have provided bottled water and bananas at the finish.
Entry is £10 per adult and £5 per child. You can register online www.dashandsplash.org.uk. All runners will get a medal and winners in all categories will get a winners t-shirt.
