The curtains will close on Shanklin Theatre’s Rapunzel pantomime after Christmas Eve, it has been announced.

Their last showing will be 24th December following the announcement that the Isle of Wight will enter Tier 3 from Boxing Day.

A spokesperson for Shanklin Theatre has said the Box Office will have to close or run with a limited team, so customers are being asked to be patient.

They are asking people NOT to contact the Box Office – they will be contacting all customers to process refunds. However, this may take a while over the Christmas period.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Shanklin Theatre has said:

“Sadly the curtain has to come down on our fabulous panto Rapunzel.

“Huge thanks to Spotlight for producing such a brilliant panto this year.

“Those lucky enough to have seen it have loved it – a truly bright spot in a tough year.

“Equal thanks go to all the theatre volunteers who made it possible to re-open and manage the five shows that have gone ahead.

“There’s been a great deal of work front and backstage to make Rapunzel happen in a safe way.

“Sorry to all those who are now left disappointed. Merry Christmas to all our supporters and best wishes for 2021.”
