Guadaloupe Road in Sandown has been closed to vehicles as a result of cracks appearing in the road surface – just feet away from the demolition site of the former Carlton Hotel.
The road, which provides access to the rear of High Street buildings, was closed off on Friday afternoon following the alarming discovery.
The wall has been shored up already as part of the work to build a brand new Premier Inn hotel on the Esplanade.
Investigations are now underway.
