The Isle of Wight Council’s Head of Place, Wendy Perera, looks almost certain to be appointed as Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Strategy Officer following a secret meeting at County Hall earlier this week.
A confidential meeting was held behind the walls of the Island’s political centre on Monday afternoon with press and members of the public excluded. However, Island Echo understands that Wendy’s appointment is all but signed on the dotted line following recent interviews and Monday’s discussions.
The position of Assistant Chief Executive attracts an annual salary of £92,000 and comes as part of a £400,000 senior management restructure. There have been calls for the Chief Executive to reconsider his controversial plans.
Councillors Dave Stewart, Stuart Hutchinson, Chris Quirk and Brian Tyndall all sat in on the meeting as part of the appointments committee. However, Councillor Geoff Brodie and Councillor Michael Lilley decided not to take part.
Isle of Wight Council say that the role of Assistant Chief Executive has not been filled yet. Interviews have taken place, but the appointment process has not been completed.
