A member of the Isle of Wight Council has issued a ‘stay at home’ message to his town of Ventnor.
Despite the government’s self-isolation guidelines, people in the town have been spotted out and about when they have tested positive for COVID, according to Councillor Gary Peace.
It’s claimed that 1 person admitted they had the virus while standing in a queue at the chemists.
Cllr Peace told a meeting of the Isle of Wight Council’s Local Outbreak Engagement Board:
“I have heard recently of people disregarding the fact they have Covid.
“One example is they were stood in a chemist queue and admitted to everybody they had Covid at the time.
“It is a complete disregard to the safety of everyone else but it is verging on stupidity. That is a strong word but you are putting people’s lives at risk if you knowingly have Covid and you are going out and about. ”
Cllr Peace said messages needed to be reinforced and people reminded that they should not go outside if they have tested positive, especially if they know they have the virus. He said:
“There have been two cases locally where people have ignored that advice and guidance and I know it is happening elsewhere on the Island.
“If you have got it, you do not go out and some people don’t seem to realise that is what the rules are.”
This is what we are in for. End of the queue when brains were being handed out.
30th January there is a call for British pubs, restaurants, hospitality to reopen. Who’s prepared to fight for their livelihood? I bet everyone in the queue complained but no one called the police. I hope its been reported as the chemist will have have cctv to be able to identify this person and fine them.

It strikes me that people who have already travelled here to use a second home are far more likely to ignore restrictions by going out and about whilst they are here.
Get the Police involved not the Council

I agree, I was outside the co op in Ryde after buying some milk at 7am for the care home I work in and a man was talking to a bin man, saying that he did not know why he had COVID and where he had got it from! Ironically at 7 in the morning he had a tin of strong cider in his hand that he was vigorously slurping on and with another 3 by his side. WTF!!!!

First you make claims that the virus is a hoax until the evidence is irrefutable so you move on to claims that its no worse than the flu. Now the evidence is stacking up against you that this is definitely worse, with hospitals choking, post not being delivered, the helivac of patients and families suffering from the loss of loved ones you now move on to oppression. So nice that a concerned councillor urges Ventnor residents to stick to the rules. Obviously we ought to do that anyway. Such a shame, though, that Ventnor’s town councillors who own holiday lets, air b’n’bs, and other lucrative concerns of the type, along with our ‘Good to go! County Council, are quite prepared to encourage the entitled superiority of their visitor friends to visit for nearly a year. Wholly against all advice and guidance, and sometimes illegally.
