Newport’s annual Christmas parade and lights switch-on, organised by Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council and Newport Carnival, will take place this Saturday.
Organisers would like to invite you all to a fun-packed day which starts in St Thomas’ Square from 11:00.
You can expect to to see the likes of the Farmers’ Market, the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, Craft Stalls, Sand Play, Frozen Show, Father Christmas, Schools Choir and so much more!
Along with the various events taking place throughout the day, the magic continues when the Newport Carnival Christmas Parade sets off from Church Litten at 17:15.
The parade will feature the Isle of Wight Young Farmers Club, Medina Marching Band, Vectis Corp of Drums and The Isle of Wight Highland Pipes and Drums, alongside a variety of local groups and carnival floats from numerous towns across the Island.
The parade will leave Church Litten at 17:15, left into South Street, right into St. James’ Street, left into Pyle Street, right into High Street before finishing at St. Thomas’ Square in time for the Christmas lights switch on at 17:45.
There will be various road closures and delays around the area during the procession. The bottom half of Church Litten will be closed from the Morrisons and Marks and Spenser entrance from 16:45 to allow participants to form up.
Free entry during the day, although donations are greatly received in collection buckets. This will enable these community-funded events to continue in years to come.
