The classic production, which recently enjoyed great success in the West End and on its UK Tour, is sure to be popular with all ages.
Around 300 applications were made by groups up and down the country for the rights to put on a show like no other, with less than a third of those being granted a licence. Among those select few is the Isle of Wight-based Island Savoyards, who will be opening the doors at Shanklin Theatre in Autumn 2019.
In recent years the amateur dramatics group have successfully produced a number of shows at Shanklin such as Made in Dagenham and the sell out Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Andrew Woodford, Show Director has said:
“To be specially chosen from all of those applications is amazing and such a fantastic opportunity for the company.
“We are extremely excited to have Chitty flying in to Shanklin Theatre next autumn”.
This week’s announcement takes the total number of productions in 2019 to 3.
Further details are set to be released when tickets go on sale.
